History

The Center was formerly known as the Center for Junior High and Elementary School Principal Preparation and Professional Development at Taipei Municipal University of Education, established in October 2003, and renamed the Center for Principal Preparation and School Partnership on August 1, 2013, following the merger of Taipei Municipal University of Education and the Taipei Physical Education College. In the 2015 academic year, the Center, due to tasking, was incorporated into the Institute of Educational Administration and Evaluation and renamed the Principal Center.

  1. In the 2001 academic year, the Department of Education (DOE) of the Taipei City Government commissioned the University (then Taipei Municipal University of Education) to run a preparation program for 12 primary school heads, which was the first of its kind in Taiwan.

  1. In the 2003 academic year, it was commissioned by the Taipei DOE to conduct the second preparation program for head teachers of primary schools, with an intake of 21 trainees.

  1. On October 2, 2003, the Ministry of Education (MOE) approved the establishment of the "Center for Junior High and Elementary School Principal Preparation and Professional Development" by Taichung (II) Letter No. 0920130829.

  1. In 2003, Professor Liu Chun-jung of the Institute of Educational Administration and Evaluation was appointed as the first director of the Center for Junior High and Elementary School Principal Preparation and Professional Development.

  1. In the 2009 academic year, it was commissioned by the Taipei DOE to run the agency’s "Beginning Principal Induction Development and Training Program." Professor Wang Bao-jinn of the Institute of Educational Administration and Evaluation served as the second director of the Center for Junior High and Elementary School Principal Preparation and Professional Development.

  1. In 2013, Associate Professor Chao Hsiao-mei of the University’s Center for Teacher Education and Career Development took up the post of the first Director of the Center for Principal Preparation and School Partnership.

  1. In the academic year of 2015, Huang Hsu-chun, Director of the Institute of Educational Administration and Evaluation, served as the Director of the Principal Center.

  1. In the academic year 2019, He Hsi-hui, Director of the Institute of Educational Administration and Evaluation, served as the Director of the Principal Center.
